Privacy Policy
Effective date: 19 September 2026 · Last updated: 22 October 2026
1. Who we are
Inspection Plus+ (the "App") and the website getinspectionplus.com (the "Site") are operated by Briswide Inspection Services ("we", "us", "our"), Sumners Road, Riverhills QLD 4074, Australia. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Contact: support@getinspectionplus.com.
2. The short version
- Your inspection jobs (client details, property details, defects, photos) are stored on your own device in the App's browser storage. Parts of a job reach our servers only when you use a feature that needs them — for example emailing or archiving a document, sending a client link or agreement for acceptance, cross-device sync, or the AI features. Section 3 lists each one.
- When you buy a licence, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- We keep a sales record (your email address, what you bought, when, and the licence code we issued) so we can support you and meet our tax obligations.
- The AI features (defect write-ups, photo assessments, Condition Report costing, wording suggestions, the "Chat with me" help assistant and the automatic spelling & grammar correction, which is on by default and can be turned off) send the text and photos involved to an AI provider to produce the result. Don't put more personal information about clients into them than the job needs.
- Defect photos are stamped with the time they were taken, the compass direction and — only if you allow location access when asked — the GPS position, so that a report shows where and when each photo was taken. The stamp travels with the photo into every document you issue.
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we do not sell personal information. We count page visits and button taps on our own server, with no cookies and no IP addresses stored.
3. What we collect and why
| Information | When | Why we use it | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inspection job content you enter (client name/contact, property address, inspection findings, photos, inspector details, PI insurance details) | While you use the App | To generate your agreements and reports | On your device (browser storage). Deleting the App or clearing site data removes it. Sent to us only through the features below. |
| Email address, name, amount paid, product purchased, Stripe checkout reference | When you buy a licence through Stripe Checkout | To email you your licence code, provide support, handle refunds, and keep tax/accounting records | Stripe (payment processor) and our sales log on Netlify |
| Licence code, redemption record and a device identifier (one functional cookie) | When you redeem a code | To unlock the documents you have paid for on that device and enforce the device limits | On your device and in our licence records on Netlify |
| Subscription email, sign-in codes and the devices signed in to your plan (device label, last used) | When you sign in to an Unlimited subscription | To confirm your subscription and keep each plan to one inspector on up to 2 devices | Netlify; the subscription itself is checked with Stripe |
| Free-code sign-up: name, business, mobile, postcode, email, connection address, and whether you asked for product updates | When you ask for the free code (your first three reports or agreements) | To send the code by SMS and email and to allow one free code per business | Netlify; the SMS goes through Twilio and the email through Resend |
| Issued documents: the PDF, and a public verification record (document ID, document type, issue date, inspector name, licence number, business name, property suburb and the file's fingerprint — not the client's name) | When you download, print or email a finished document | So you can retrieve issued documents and your clients can verify them at getinspectionplus.com/verify | Netlify, seven years |
| Emailed documents: recipient addresses, your message and the PDF | When you email a document from the App | To deliver it (a copy goes to our administration address) | Resend (email provider) and our archive |
| Client web links and e-acceptance: the client's name, signature, email (if they give it), time, connection address and browser details | When your client opens a link you sent and acknowledges receipt or accepts an agreement | To give you a reliable record that the document was received or accepted | Netlify, seven years |
| Booking requests: the details a client enters on your booking page (name, email, phone, property, preferred date, notes) and their connection address | When someone uses your booking link | To pass the request to you | Netlify, until you no longer need it |
| Contractor quote requests: the trade items, photos and property address you send, and the contractor's quote, licence and contact details | When you send a quote request | To collect quotes into your Condition Report | Netlify |
| Cross-device sync: the current job, including photos | Only if you turn sync on | So your other devices can open the same job | Netlify, under a key derived from your sync passphrase, until you delete it |
| Text and photos sent to the AI features — including, for the Condition Report costing, the hourly labour rates and price reference you enter on the Costing tab, and, for the "Chat with me" assistant, the first name you give it, which document you are working on, where you are in the App and the property's state — not your client's details | When you use them — and, while automatic spelling & grammar correction is on (the default; turn it off on its bar), a field's text when you leave the field | To produce the write-up, assessment, estimate or reply | Sent to Anthropic's API through our server; not stored by us after the result is returned |
| Photo stamps: the date and time a photo was taken, the compass direction the camera was facing and, if you allow location access, the GPS position (latitude, longitude and accuracy) | When you take or add a defect photo and the device can supply them | Printed on the photo and in its caption so the report shows where and when each photo was taken | On your device with the job; in the finished document, and anywhere you send that document. You can refuse the browser's location prompt — photos are then stamped with the time only. |
| Feedback: your rating, comments and (optionally) name, suburb and email | When you leave feedback | To improve the App; published as a testimonial only if you agree | Netlify; emailed to us |
| Anonymous visit counts: the page, the website that linked to it, whether the device is a phone, tablet or computer, and which buttons were tapped (for example opening a sample or a toolkit). No cookies, IP addresses, device IDs or personal information. Visitors who send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control aren't counted. | When you visit the Site | To see which pages and features help visitors | Netlify |
| Basic technical logs (IP address, browser type, time of request, error messages) and short-lived rate-limit counters. For IPv6 addresses, we group by /64 network prefix (the first 64 bits) rather than recording full addresses. | Automatically when the Site or its functions are accessed | Security, fraud prevention, fixing faults and applying per-network rate limits fairly without tracking individuals | Netlify hosting logs, kept for a short period |
4. Payments
All payments are processed by Stripe Payments Australia Pty Ltd. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout page and are never sent to or stored by us. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that processing: stripe.com/au/privacy.
5. Cookies and local storage
The App saves your work and licence status in your browser's storage on your device so it works offline and keeps your jobs between visits. The Site sets one functional cookie named ipdev that identifies your device when a licence code is redeemed (it is needed to apply the device limits). This cookie is HttpOnly (inaccessible to JavaScript) and Secure (sent only over HTTPS), contains a random identifier and nothing else, and lasts up to 400 days or until you clear site data. No advertising or analytics cookies are set. Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout pages for fraud prevention. The App's PDF and QR-code libraries are loaded from the cdnjs content network (Cloudflare), which sees a normal web request from your browser.
6. Who we share information with
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription status.
- Netlify — hosts the Site and its server functions, and stores the records described in section 3.
- Resend — sends emails (licence codes, documents you email, confirmations and notifications).
- Twilio — sends the free-code SMS.
- Anthropic — runs the AI features.
- Government agencies or professional advisers where required by law (for example the ATO for tax records).
These providers store data outside Australia (mainly the United States). By purchasing or using these features you consent to that overseas disclosure. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
7. Your clients' information
If you are a building inspector, you are responsible for the details of your clients and the properties you inspect. They stay on your device unless you use a feature in section 3 that sends them (for example emailing a document, a client web link or e-acceptance), in which case we hold them on your behalf for that purpose. You should tell your clients that you use Inspection Plus+ to prepare and deliver their documents.
8. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. Server functions check licence codes, signed requests or secret keys before acting, and are rate-limited. Job data on your device is only as safe as the device — protect it with a passcode and keep your own backups (the App's export feature); we cannot recover job data that was only on your device.
9. Retention
Sales records are kept for seven years to meet Australian tax record-keeping requirements. Issued documents, e-acceptance records and client web-link records are kept for seven years. Synced job data is kept until you delete it (sync settings → "Turn off & delete synced copy"). Free-code sign-ups are kept while needed to apply the one-free-code-per-business rule. Feedback is kept for up to seven years, or until you ask us to delete it. Technical logs are kept briefly. Data on your device stays until you delete it.
10. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to record-keeping laws) by emailing support@getinspectionplus.com. We will respond within 30 days. The steps for deleting your account and the records we keep are set out at getinspectionplus.com/delete-account.html. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Children
The App is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at getinspectionplus.com/privacy.html, with the effective date shown at the top.
